The Energy & Utilities business unit carefully monitors its energy consumption
in order to eliminate unnecessary energy use and sustainably reduce the amount of energy consumed by
its operations in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. All employees are urged to act
responsibly to improve the energy efficiency of plants, equipment and consumption.
The
following principles inform our business operations:
- We
track energy consumption on a systematic, plant-by-plant basis and perform practical consumption assessments.
- Energy
flows are captured and regularly updated so consumption can be continuously analyzed.
- We
use consumption assessments to evaluate and monitor productivity and efficiency and identify opportunities
for improvement.
- We actively drive energy savings and energy efficiency by consistently
and sustainably analyzing our action plan.
- We turn employees into energy-efficiency
champions by enhancing awareness and encouraging voluntary changes in behavior.
- We
employ an "energy-efficiency team" as an expression of our commitment to identifying and evaluating
energy-savings opportunities, taking appropriate action and doing our part to drive continuous improvement
at the business unit.
- Lower energy consumption helps protect our environment, lowers
greenhouse-gas emissions and extends the availability of fossil fuels.
- These principles
represent our energy policy and are binding on all employees of the Energy & Utilities business
unit.
