From guns to green: It can often take an entire decade to convert a military facility into a civilian property – far too long for Bad Arolsen's government-owned firms. To speed matters up, they brought in Infraserv Höchst to convert the former Prinz Eugen barracks site into a bioenergy park. They needed a partner who was well-versed in the complex demands of site operation and could effectively integrate them into a complete, well-balanced land-use plan. The main challenge was to efficiently complete the transformation from a cleared military site to a modern bioenergy park without exceeding the government's limited budget and resources. Infraserv Höchst, an experienced project developer and site manager, played a crucial role in getting the project underway with its reliability and strong focus during the development phase. It dispatched two employees to ensure that the supply, waste-management and FM services were professionally planned and executed. They also handled all the aspects of marketing and selling space at the park. At every stage in the process, Infraserv Höchst was able to draw on its extensive industry know-how and experience operating Industriepark Höchst, its own site. Indeed, Infraserv Höchst's expertise as a consultant, manager and operator was one of the main reasons why it was chosen from all the high-profile European providers competing in the EU-wide bidding process. The bottom line
Within one year of its founding, Bioenergiepark Nordwaldeck GmbH had attracted five new tenants and rented out more than 50 percent of its building space. In 2009, the park also gained a nucleus: Bayernfonds BestEnergy 1 GmbH & Co. KG's wood-fired power station, which will supply energy to not just the park's buildings and plants, but also to buildings in the city of Bad Arolsen itself for the long term – providing a green future for everyone.Infraserv Höchst's services
