More competitiveness for the Aukammtal Rehabilitation Clinic
•
Clinic size: 250 beds• Gross floor area: some 14,000 m2
• Contract volume: EUR 1.5 million
Industry: Health care, Aukammtal Rehabilitation Clinic in Wiesbaden, Germany
The Aukammtal Rehabilitation Clinic was suffering under massive
changes in the health care system, including the industry-wide DRG (diagnosis-related group) amount
system, overcapacity, and investment backlogs.
One therapy used to hone
the clinic's competitive edge: cutting costs in technical and infrastructural building operations and
fully refurbishing and converting the clinic building. All these measures met fire code requirements
and the provisions of the Ordinance on the Testing of Building Systems and Equipment in Buildings (HausPrüfVO).
To
increase occupancy rates, the public areas and patient rooms had to be enhanced and improved - all during
regular operations and while observing all the required rest periods.
The bottom line
Costs in technical building operations were slashed by some 20 percent!
The team ran a building analysis and checked the resulting costs
and system conditions against benchmark studies. This provided the kind of transparency that enabled
the clinic to prepare a fair, realistic budget for subsequent years.
Administrative
costs and interfaces were also reduced because a single contact was appointed for all non-medical project
sections.
Our formula for success makes clinics more competitive.
