The EU REACH Regulation has a rule: no data, no market. Manufacturers and importers first have to submit substance data during registration before placing the substance on the market. However, obtaining substance or study data tends to be costly and time-consuming.
However, not in areas covered by the 12-year rule under Article 25, paragraph 3 of the REACH Regulation. It states that study data submitted twelve years ago in a REACH registration may be used free of charge for further substance registrations. This makes registrations easier and cheaper for you because:
Despite the 12-year rule, substance registration is and remains a complex task that demands careful assessment: Is the older freely available trial data sufficient? Or might additional information be required? In this case, it’s best to keep a close eye on current registrations and contact previous registrants to find out what data you still need. This may involve tough negotiations on data acquisition. We know data holders’ legal obligations and so can gladly do this work for you.
