Year-on-year reduction of direct CO2 emissions

Infraserv Höchst’s corporate carbon footprint for 2019 totals 1,537,481 metric tons of CO2 equivalents. This represents a year-on-year decrease of approx. 48,000 metric tons of CO2 equivalents.

Direct CO2 emissions decreased due to lower coal consumption at the park. However, there was also an increase in CO2 emissions from external purchases of secondary energy sources (electricity) by Infraserv and customers.

Power demand at the park was unchanged from the previous year, while demand for heat dropped about 10%.

The specific CO2 emissions of electricity (IPH mix) increased year-on-year to 0.315 kg CO2/kWh. A smaller percentage of electricity was backed by renewable energy certificates.
