Putting chemical policy into actionAny company that manufactures or imports more than one ton of chemical substances per year must register them with the European CHemicals Agency (ECHA) in Helsinki. If the company fails to submit the proper paperwork and meet the deadlines - which may vary depending on the quantity and type of substance - it will be barred from marketing the chemicals. Substance registration and classification will be listed in the public database and can be easily verified by the national authorities.
