Frankfurt is the nerve center of the dynamic, diverse Rhine-Main region. Home to leading chemical and pharmaceutical companies, major banks, a large trade fairground, and the international Frankfurt Airport, it is one of the most productive regions in Europe.

Besides being a business powerhouse, the region is also home to many universities and research institutes. Between the modern, vibrant city and the spectacular countryside, local residents have plenty of ways to spend their free time. They can also expand their cultural horizons at world-class museums, concert halls, theaters, a lively restaurant scene, and parks in Taunus, Rheingau, Spessart, Rhön and Odenwald.

Living in Rhine-Main

Recreation, sports, culture – the Rhine-Main region offers something for everyone. It is known for its parks: Taunus, Hunsrück, Odenwald, Vogelsberg, Spessart and many others are great places to while away the hours in summertime or wintertime.
Frankfurt is full of ways to relax. A 4,500 hectare forest park, as well as close to 50 city parks are the "green lungs" of this buzzing city.
The region is also a paradise for sports lovers, with plenty of biking paths and lakes where you can exercise or simply relax.

Diverse cultural scene

From opera houses and museums to theaters and music clubs, the Rhine-Main region has it all. Its vast cultural scene and cosmopolitan atmosphere give the city an international flair.
Frankfurt, Darmstadt, Wiesbaden and Mainz each boast their own opera houses and international orchestras. There are countless music clubs of all stripes for night owls. In addition to the many local concerts given by international artists, there is also the world-famous Frankfurt Jazz Festival. Another special event on the Rhine-Main region's busy cultural calendar is the Rheingau Music Festival.
