Ground rules for Q-Cells' new location in Thalheim
"Solar Valley" Thalheim area: 160 ha
Approx. 2,500 employees
Industry: Solar industry; Q-Cells SE, "Solar Valley" Thalheim
Q-Cells SE is the world's largest manufacturer of solar cells. Its core business is the development, production and sale of high-performance solar cells made from monocrystalline and polycrystalline silicon. It aims to advance photovoltaics as a sustainable and environmentally sound technology. Due to rapid growth, Q-Cells had to expand its production site, so the company planned a new industrial park in the "Solar Valley" in Thalheim, a town to the north of Leipzig. In an industry where time-to-market is everything, the company needed a site consultant to plan the new industrial park and provide efficient, prompt assistance in structuring how the industrial park was managed. This entailed everything from drafting site agreements and fairly allocating overhead charges to preparing a set of industrial-park rules and managing safety and access issues at the park. In short, every aspect of the industrial park had to be covered from the ground up – with lots of questions and only a few weeks to bring all the stakeholders together at one table. Luckily, this challenging project had a solid framework: the Solution module of our "FM Tune-in" site-management tool. The bottom line
Infraserv Höchst analyzed the existing organizational and technical infrastructure at Q-Cells SE and worked with the client to develop an ideal operating model for the park. The general conditions were considered as part of the comprehensive review. Q-Cells benefited from Infraserv Höchst's extensive experience. Best of all, the innovative consulting approach heightened everyone's awareness of the complexities of operating industrial parks.Infraserv Höchst's services
